Solange – A Seat At The Table

I swear Solange is one of the most underrated artists in the world today. I remember back in the day I used to like a lot of her songs. And it’s been a long ass time since I’ve taken the time to indulge in any of her music.

A couple days ago I heard her new single “Mad” and I wasn’t really listening to it. I heard it…but I wasn’t paying attention to the lyrics. So this morning, when I was looking for some music to listen to… I decided to listen to the whole album.

And my review is 5 out of 5 stars. It’s so soulful and poetic. And my favorite part is that it has a deep message. I love the pro-black message that is being delivered. Her vocals are on point. It speaks to the struggles of black people and it’s a message that everyone need to hear.Mind you there were parts here and there that I didn’t 100% agree with, but the overall message and delivery of the message I think was great.

Currently my favorite track is “Don’t touch my hair”. That song is deep. It made me wanna just throw my Brazilian wavy hair straight into the the trash! You don’t even know!! This album just made me feel some kinda way. Empowered, motivated and strong as hell.

These are my top 5 favorite songs in the order of the album:

  • Weary
  • Cranes in the Sky
  • Mad
  • Don’t you Wait
  • Don’t Touch my Hair

Anyways, what are your thoughts on this album? On this artist? Do you agree or disagree? Let’s discuss in the comments below!
